My friend Jo is a bold Athena
humming with the brilliance of a woman who has seen much
and yet grows warmer.
She has held off bitterness with a clenched fist of peace and trembles with an anger so righteous I fear the ground will split in response to her truth.
Where she treads the pavement breaks in reverence of the weight of
one that she inhabits effortlessly like a bird whose only prerogative is to soar.
I love the way she smiles like her teeth might fall out of her face,
I love the way she laughs deep into her belly.
I love that she is constant, unshakeable and true.
I love that she is so much more than her words.
She’s a woman that lives to do.
